You cannot go "clubbing" during Vesak. Vesak is the most sacred Buddhist festival of the year. The entire country is strictly dry—no alcohol is sold anywhere, and all bars, clubs, and liquor stores are mandated by law to close for the duration of the festival. Instead, the "party" is the beautiful, calm street festival of illuminated lanterns and free food (Dansal).

Tuktuks are available, but traffic is at a complete standstill due to the crowds viewing the lanterns. Walk instead.

If you manage to find a tuktuk at night during Vesak, use the PickMe app so they don’t overcharge you for the traffic delays.
