I enjoy cycling and motorbikes. How safe is it and which routes are good for tourists?

Motorbike rental is popular in some tourist areas (especially south coast and around Ella) but requires caution. Traffic can be unpredictable, roads vary in quality, and helmets are essential. For cycling, quieter roads in the hill country or coastal paths in less busy areas are better than main highways. Many cyclists use e-bikes or join organized tours for safety and support. Self-guided long-distance cycling requires good fitness, mechanical knowledge, and awareness of road conditions. Some guesthouses rent bikes for short local exploration. For most visitors, motorbike or bicycle rental works best for short distances in areas with lighter traffic rather than long cross-country trips. Always wear a helmet and ride defensively.

Will stick to shorter rides in quieter areas and always wear a helmet. Organized tours might be safer for longer routes.
