The Dehiwala Zoological Gardens officially open at 8:30 AM and close at 6:00 PM every day. The absolute best time to visit is right when they open. The morning air is much cooler, and the animals are significantly more active before the midday heat sets in.

Visiting on a weekday morning is highly recommended. Weekends and public school holidays get incredibly crowded with local families and large school groups, making it harder to quietly observe the wildlife and walk the paths peacefully.
