Kumana National Park is an incredible, highly secluded safari destination located just south of Arugam Bay. While Yala National Park is famous for high leopard density, it suffers from massive jeep congestion. Kumana is primarily renowned as a spectacular bird sanctuary, but it also has a very healthy population of leopards and elephants. During the dry season, as water becomes scarce, animals gather around the remaining villus, making sightings excellent. The absolute lack of crowds makes Kumana a vastly superior, peaceful wilderness experience compared to Yala.
