Never assume a driver will just be waiting out there. You must negotiate a "standby rate" with a driver beforehand. Talk to the driver who takes you to the rave, and offer him a premium (e.g., 4000-5000 LKR total) to park and sleep in his tuk-tuk until you are ready to leave. Ask your hostel for a trusted driver, as you want someone who will not just abandon you if they get bored.
If it is a well-known party organized by Cafe Chill, they sometimes have a shuttle van service. Ask the organizers first.
Do not try to walk back down the Ella-Wellawaya road in the dark. There are wild elephants and leopards in those hills.
Get the drivers WhatsApp number. Jungle raves often have terrible phone signal, so agree on a specific meeting spot.
Pay them half upfront and the other half when they drop you safely at your hotel.
