DJI Mini 4 Pro under 250g do I still need CAA permit
I read conflicting info about sub 250 g drones in Sri Lanka Some sources say the Mini series is exempt from registration others say all drones require CAA permit application 14 days ahead with airport bonding if undeclared Has anyone flown with a Mini 4 Pro recently What did customs do at CMB and what is the realistic chance of getting permission for tea estates and beaches outside the no fly zones

Update from my own trip Sub 250 g drones still require CAA registration but the process is simplified Apply at caa lk with passport photo drone serial purchase receipt itinerary and zones you intend to fly Approval came in 9 days for me 25000 LKR fee Customs at CMB asked to see the printed approval and matched the serial No bonding if you have the paper Without permission they will bond it and you collect on exit Tea estates near Hatton and remote beaches outside surf zones are usually approved Banned zones are non negotiable all temples Sigiriya 5 km radius around airports and any national park
For most Instagram shots a good gimbal and creative angles are enough Save the drone for genuinely empty beaches and tea fields you have manager permission
Nine Arch Bridge and Lipton Seat are unofficial no fly enforced by locals not signs They will call police your drone may be seized
Fines for unauthorised flying start at 100000 LKR plus drone confiscation not worth the risk to skip the permit
