Does the Ella Odyssey train slow down at Bambarakanda Falls
3 Answers from travellers
The Ella Odyssey is specifically designed for tourists and makes several scheduled photo stops. While it does not stop at Bambarakanda the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka, it does intentionally slow down to a crawl at the St. Clair Falls viewpoint and stops completely at the Elgin Falls viewpoint for passengers to take photos from the open doors.
If you specifically want to see Bambarakanda, you have to get off the train at Haputale or Ohiya station and hire a vehicle to take you down the Kalupahana road.
By the time the Odyssey train pulls into Ella station in the late afternoon, you will have plenty of time to check into your hostel and head out to Cafe Chill or One Love for the evening parties.

People outside stations offer to "help" buy tickets but charge large markups. They may buy cheap third-class tickets and sell as more expensive classes.
