Wide or standard zoom is plenty for the train and views. Don't bring too much, it's a pain on the train. One good lens covers most of it. You'll be fine with less.

People outside stations offer to "help" buy tickets but charge large markups. They may buy cheap third-class tickets and sell as more expensive classes.
