Fake spice gardens are a notorious tourist trap located along the highways leading to Kandy and Ella. Private drivers receive massive commissions for bringing you there. The tour seems free, but at the end, they aggressively pressure you into buying fake herbal oils and generic spices at wildly inflated prices. To avoid this, you must be extremely firm with your driver before the journey begins. Explicitly state that you refuse to stop at any spice gardens. If they try to pull over anyway, firmly stay in the vehicle and demand they continue driving.

Train Ticket Reseller ScamVerified

People outside stations offer to "help" buy tickets but charge large markups. They may buy cheap third-class tickets and sell as more expensive classes.
