Absolutely NOT safe to walk that route at 2 AM. The path connecting Hiriketiya and Dickwella goes over a steep, unlit jungle hill. The stray dog packs there are very territorial at night and will aggressively bark and occasionally nip at people walking alone in the dark. Always pay 300-500 LKR for a tuk-tuk waiting outside the club.

I walked it once and got surrounded by four dogs. I had to slowly back away until a passing scooter scared them off. Do not do it.
If a dog does bite you, it is a major health concern. Wash the wound for 15 minutes and go to Matara hospital for free Rabies shots.
