There is a single, paved, zigzagging road that leads from the factory to the summit. You are completely free to walk on this road. Do NOT walk directly through the tea bushes as this damages the crops. You do have to pay a small entrance fee (around 500 LKR) at the gate near the top to access the actual Lipton Seat viewpoint.

Start early! By 9:30 AM, the mist rolls in and you will not see anything from the top.

If you see the tea pluckers, do not stick cameras in their faces without asking. A simple smile and nod is best.

Yes, tuk-tuks constantly drive up and down that road ferrying people. Easy to flag one down.
