The road from the main ticket gate up to the Ambuluwawa tower complex is incredibly steep relentlessly winding and stretches for several kilometers. Walking it is highly exhausting and takes over an hour.

You absolutely should hire one of the specialized high powered tuk tuks waiting at the entrance gate. They charge a very reasonable flat fee and expertly navigate the terrifyingly steep hairpin bends to drop you safely right at the tower entrance. Do not attempt to drive your own rental tuk tuk up there.
