We want to hike the rainforest but we are terrified of leeches. How do we stop them.

Sinharaja is a dense highly humid primary rainforest so leeches are absolutely inevitable especially right after a heavy rain shower. However they are completely harmless and carry zero diseases.

To perfectly prevent them you must wear specialized tightly woven leech socks pulled firmly over your trousers which your local guide can easily provide or sell to you at the entrance gate. Additionally applying strong Siddhalepa herbal balm or heavy salt to your shoes acts as an incredible natural deterrent.
