For the best view, hike up to the tea plantation cafes overlooking the bridge. They have seating areas where you can wait comfortably with a cup of tea. If you want the classic eye level shot, walk down to the track level but stay well clear of the rails when the train approach.
Check with your guesthouse the morning you go, as they usually have the most up to date info from the station masters. Be prepared for a bit of a muddy walk if it rained the night before.
