How do I take the sea train from Colombo to Mount Lavinia?

The coastal railway line is one of the most scenic commutes in Asia. You can take any train heading toward Kalutara, Galle, or Matara from Colombo Fort. Most depart from platforms 4 or 5. A second class ticket to Mount Lavinia costs less than one hundred rupees. Sit on the right side of the train when heading south to be literally meters away from the Indian Ocean spray.
