I am visiting in August. I see many vendors selling seats in shops. What is a fair price and is it better than the street.

Fair prices for balcony seats range from seven thousand to twelve thousand rupees depending on the night of the festival. The final Randoli Perahera is the most expensive. While street seats are free, you have to wait from noon in the heat. Balcony seats in shops along Dalada Veediya offer a much better view of the elephants and dancers and are far more comfortable for a six hour event.
