We are staying in a nice 4-star hotel in Bentota. What is the standard daily tip to leave on the pillow for the cleaning staff?

Leaving 200 to 500 LKR (about $1 to $1.50 USD) on the pillow per day is standard and very much appreciated. It makes a big difference to their monthly income.

If you leave it on the bed, make sure you put a little note saying "Thank You" or leave it visibly resting on a pillow. If you just leave cash on a desk, they will not touch it, assuming it is your personal money.
