How to find the hidden Diyaluma upper pools.

We want to swim in the natural infinity pools. Do we need a guide to hike there safely.

The hike up to the spectacular upper pools starts from the Makaldeniya junction, not the bottom of the falls. While the dirt path is somewhat visible, hiring a local village guide is highly recommended.

The local guides are very cheap and guarantee you will not get lost in the rubber estates, and more importantly, they know exactly which rock pools are safe to swim in without getting swept over the edge.
