Ice baths and smoothie bowls in Weligama after a big night out
7 Answers from travellers
The biohacking and wellness scene in Weligama is booming. Head over to Basecamp Weligama; they have excellent facilities including guided Wim Hof style breathwork followed by commercial chest-freezer ice plunges. It is exactly what your central nervous system needs to reset after heavy alcohol consumption. For the food, just walk a few minutes down the road to Moochies for the best thick, cold smoothie bowls in town.
Definitely Moochies! Their peanut butter banana cacao bowl is literally like eating a healthy ice cream. Perfect post-ice bath fuel.
Hangtime Hostel also has an ice bath setup on their rooftop with an amazing view of the surf break. You can drop in for a session without being a guest.
A drop in ice bath session usually costs around 2500 to 4000 LKR depending on whether it is fully guided or self service. Bring a towel!
If you are dealing with muscle soreness from dancing, combine the ice bath with an Ayurvedic deep tissue massage. Good Spa in Weligama is highly rated.
Do not jump into an ice bath if you are still heavily intoxicated from the night before. It can put severe strain on your cardiovascular system. Wait until you are sober and just hungover.
Make sure you are properly hydrated before you shock your body in the ice. Drink a local King Coconut to replenish your electrolytes first.
