We want to cook our own dinner. Can tourists buy directly from the fishermen.

Yes absolutely. This is a brilliant way to eat highly affordable incredibly fresh seafood. Wake up at 6:00 AM and visit the Mirissa fisheries harbor. You can personally buy a kilo of massive fresh tiger prawns or tuna directly from the returning fishermen for incredibly cheap wholesale prices.

Once you buy the fish many of the smaller family run guesthouses and tiny beach shacks will happily clean marinate and expertly grill the catch for you for a very small preparation fee usually roughly 1000 to 1500 Rupees.
