Is it illegal to take seashells or dead coral out of the country.
We collected some beautiful shells on the beach. Can we pack them in our luggage to take home.

Yes it is absolutely strictly totally thoroughly illegal to actively selectively export any natural environmental materials whatsoever including beautiful seashells dead washed up coral pieces or raw uncut local gemstones entirely out of Sri Lanka. The strict customs officers at the departure airport scan all luggage incredibly rigorously.
The national government heavily fiercely enforces these deeply vital environmental protection laws explicitly to perfectly flawlessly preserve the pristine highly fragile coastal ecosystems for future generations. Attempting to secretly smuggle these natural items will absolutely result in immediate instant confiscation and potentially massive severe crippling financial fines or travel bans.
