The Mirissa whale watching season typically runs from November to April. By late April, the sea starts to become rougher as the southwest monsoon approaches. While sightings are still possible, visibility is lower. The activity will soon shift to Trincomalee on the east coast for the May to October period. If you go next week, aim for the earliest possible morning boat.
