Yes, an average person can definitely make it to the top of Adams Peak. It is not technically difficult, as the entire path is essentially just thousands of concrete stairs. You do not need any special climbing skills or gear.
Your calves and thighs will absolutely burn the next day. Take it extremely slow on the descent, as the steep downward stairs are actually much harder on your knees than the climb up.
However, it requires a massive amount of cardiovascular endurance and mental willpower. The final hour of the climb is incredibly steep. The key is to start very early, take countless short breaks, and drink plenty of water.
