Is the Colombo Lotus Tower worth the $20 USD entrance fee?
We have one day in Colombo. The Lotus Tower looks cool, but the ticket is $20 per person for foreigners. (Locals pay 500 LKR, which is like $1.50).
Is the view actually worth the price difference? Or is it just a shopping mall at the bottom?

The "Dual Pricing" here is steep, so it depends on what you value.
The Cons: It is expensive compared to other sites. The "Mall" at the bottom is still half-empty. The glass elevator ride is short.
The Pros: It is the tallest tower in South Asia. The view at sunset (6:00 PM) is genuinely spectacular!! you can see the Port City, the ocean, and the endless urban sprawl.
The Verdict:
SKIP if you are on a backpacker budget. Go to the rooftop bar at the Kingsbury Hotel or Granbell Hotel instead. You get a similar view, and you can spend that $20 on cocktails.
GO if you are a family or an architecture geek who wants the "bucket list" photo.
