I want to drink Arrack and Ginger Beer at a small roadside beach bar. Are the ice cubes made from filtered water, or will I get sick?

Almost 100% of the ice served in commercial restaurants, bars, and beach shacks in Sri Lanka is factory-produced tube ice made from purified water. You can spot it because they are uniform cylinders with a hole in the middle. It is completely safe.

The only time to worry is if someone gives you a chipped, cloudy chunk of a massive block of ice at a tiny rural kiosk. But standard cylindrical ice cubes are totally fine.
