Is the Pekoe Trail Stage 1 from Hanthana to Galaha currently open?

I am staying in Kandy and want to hike the first segment. Was the path cleared after the landslides reported last year.

Yes, Stage 1 is fully hikeable and currently under Green status. Multiple landslides were successfully cleared in early 2026 by volunteers and the trail organization. It is a beautiful twelve kilometer trek through pine forests and tea estates. I recommend starting early by 7:00 AM to enjoy the views before the afternoon mist rolls in.
