Yes, the train ride from Ella to Badulla is absolutely worth the time. Most tourists get off at Ella, which means the final stretch to Badulla is gloriously uncrowded, allowing you to easily move between windows for photos.
The landscape changes dramatically as you descend towards Badulla, offering stunning views of vast pine forests and deep valleys that you do not see on the Kandy to Ella segment.
This section actually includes crossing the famous Nine Arch Bridge and passing through the Demodara Loop. Experiencing these engineering marvels from inside the train is a completely different perspective than photographing them from the hills.
