Late April is the very end of the Mirissa season as the seas start to get rougher with the approach of the southwest monsoon. While sightings are still possible, visibility is decreasing. The whale watching activity will soon shift to Trincomalee on the east coast, where the season runs from May to October. If you go next week, check the morning sea report as many boats may cancel if the swell is too high.
