Kandy to Ella train — which class is best and how far in advance should I book?
I want to do the famous Kandy-Ella train journey. Which class should I book and when to reserve?

2nd class reserved is the sweet spot for most travelers — comfortable seats, guaranteed place, and good views. 1st class is more expensive with slightly better seats but limited availability. 3rd class is cheap but crowded and no reservations. Book as far in advance as possible (ideally 30 days when booking opens) especially for peak season. The journey is stunning but can be delayed. Observation car tickets are separate and sell out fast — many people say regular 2nd class is fine and less crowded with photographers. Book online via the official site or through a reliable agent if you're not in Sri Lanka yet.
Will aim for 2nd class reserved and book as soon as possible. Thanks for the tips.
2nd class reserved is recommended. Book early, especially for peak season. Observation car is nice but not essential.
