Are these sacred natural pools hygienic enough for foreign tourists to use.

The Keerimalai springs are highly revered sacred bathing pools separated into men and women sections. The water is constantly refreshed by the ocean tides, making it physically clean enough for a very unique, culturally immersive dip.

While the water is safe, the changing facilities and the concrete walls of the pools are quite rustic and mossy. Do not expect a luxury spa experience; it is a deeply spiritual, community environment.

If you decide to bathe, you must respect the local culture. Women should wear a t shirt and shorts or a sarong over their swimwear, as bikinis are considered highly inappropriate at this sacred site.
