Late night beach partying in Hiriketiya and stray dog safety
6 Answers from travellers
Absolutely NOT safe to walk that route at 2 AM. The path connecting Hiriketiya and Dickwella goes over a steep, unlit jungle hill. The stray dog packs there are very territorial at night and will aggressively bark and occasionally nip at people walking alone in the dark. Always pay 300-500 LKR for a tuk-tuk waiting outside the club.
If you want to party harder, head to Ahangama instead. Much bigger venues.
There are also snakes on the warm asphalt at night in that jungle section. Just use a vehicle.
Will tuk-tuks definitely be waiting outside Dots that late
Yes, there is always a line of them waiting when the main beach bars close.
I walked it once and got surrounded by four dogs. I had to slowly back away until a passing scooter scared them off. Do not do it.
