Maligawa line is home but drums inland - leftover devales or a shop speaker on the walk back
9.12, walking the parallel behind Queen's. We saw the casket go in. We can still hear hevisi, but it is inland, not on Dalada. Last night I lost fifteen minutes to a shop PA. Is this the devale sections still coming home or am I doing the Samsung thing again.

At 9.12 a live column on a side street is possible - the four devales (Natha, Vishnu, Kataragama, Pattini) follow the Maligawa section on a Kumbal night and do not all vanish at the relic. It is also possible you are hearing a lobby. The test is do you see drummers and torches. If you only hear it, keep walking to the hotel. Do not hunt a leftover column through dark alleys.
We chased a sound Thursday and found a hotel TV. The live leftover we did see was on Raja Veediya, still taped, still not a place to step into.

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
