Dengue fever is a persistent risk throughout Sri Lanka, particularly during and immediately after the monsoon rains when stagnant water pools everywhere. You absolutely must be diligent about applying strong mosquito repellent containing DEET every single morning and evening. Always sleep under a mosquito net or in an air conditioned room to stay completely safe.
