Nanda Malini Nugegoda until 3:30 PM then Borella 5:00 PM - stay for 6:28 PM or go down
This morning the rites are today, not tomorrow. Ada's video shelf still says final rites tomorrow which is stale Friday copy. Nugegoda until 3:30 PM, observances 3:30 PM, Borella 5:00 PM. We are in Kandy. Partner wants to pay respects and still catch 6:28 PM. I think that is two cities and the 1,749. Stay and stand tonight, or go down and lose the last Kumbal.

Rites are today Sat 22: Ashram until 3:30 PM, procession after observances, Borella 5:00 PM, no state funeral, family wish. Flags half-mast 21-23 Aug. That is Colombo. 5:00 PM in Borella and 6:28 PM in Kandy is not one Saturday. Pick one. Mourning is not a Perahera cancellation.
Paying respects is a real thing. So is 6:28 PM. Do not do both on the A1 at dusk.
Friends who went down for 3:30 PM did not make 6:28 PM. They were not wrong. They were in a different city.

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
