Nikini is Thursday and the city is already in Perahera mode - where do we eat if everywhere goes veg

Meat is not illegal except that slaughterhouses and many butchers quieten on Poya, and a lot of Buddhist-run places in Kandy go vegetarian for the whole Perahera stretch out of respect, not just the 27th. Tourist restaurants around the lake still do fish and chicken most nights, then flip to veg on Poya. For Jain / South Indian: look at the old Indian / Tamil places in town - people send visitors to Balaji-style dosai spots and the thali places near the market. Call at lunch and ask vegetable only today? onion/garlic? potato? Do not expect a Western vegan cafe on Dalada Veediya during the parade.
