I'm a bird photographer. Any locations with hides or particularly good, accessible birding spots?

Most birding in Sri Lanka is done from vehicles in national parks or on foot with a good guide. Dedicated hides are not very common compared to some countries. Some lodges and eco-resorts have feeding stations or viewing areas that work well for photography. Sinharaja and certain wetland areas can be productive with a skilled local guide who knows bird behavior and good vantage points. Patience and a good telephoto lens are more important than fixed hides here.

We had good luck with a local guide in Bundala who knew exactly where to position for good shots without disturbing the birds.
