Rain is usually heavy but short (1-2 hours in the afternoon/evening). Plan outdoor activities for mornings. Carry a good lightweight rain jacket and quick-dry clothes. Many places have covered areas or indoor activities (museums, temples, shopping, spas). Drivers are used to it and roads are generally fine except during very heavy downpours. Have backup indoor plans and don't try to stick to a rigid outdoor schedule.
Morning activities + backup indoor plans. Will pack a proper rain jacket.
Good hotels and guesthouses have covered verandas, pools with shade, and indoor lounges. Many travelers actually enjoy the dramatic rain and the fresh green scenery afterwards. Just don't plan long open jeep safaris or beach days for the peak afternoon hours.
