Procession already passed our kerb - do we wait for a return loop or was that our night
8.41 on Dalada Veediya by the lake. The tusker line went by maybe ten minutes ago. Drums still somewhere toward Raja Veediya. Partner wants to sit it out in case they come back the other way. We have been on this same two metres of kerb since 5. Is Kumbal actually a loop that re-passes Queen's or did we just watch our night.

Tonight is one 1.27 km circuit: Dalada Veediya -> Senanayake / Katugodalla -> Raja Veediya -> home to the Maligawa. It does not reverse back down the same Queen's kerb. If it already passed you on Dalada, that was your viewing of the outbound. The "return" is on Raja Veediya toward the temple gate. Waiting here for a second pass is how you stand until 10 for nothing.
Last night we made the same mistake. Walked toward Raja Veediya after police let the gap open and caught the casket going home. Do not step into the roadway to chase it.
They unwind street by street after the last torch line is in. If you can still hear hevisi toward Raja Veediya, the devale sections may not even have finished. Move with the flow when the tape droops, not against the elephants.
Scam Watch: kandy
TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
