Hiriketiya is beautiful but way too busy. Are there any quiet, hidden coves within walking distance where we can just relax in peace.

Yes! Walk over the western headland (past the left point break). A 15-minute walk through a small jungle path leads you to Dickwella Beach. It is a massive, 2km long stretch of golden sand that is almost entirely empty. The water is calm and perfect for swimming, and there are no loud cafes or surf schools.

Dickwella is amazing. There is also a tiny cove called Blue Beach Island about 10 mins away by tuk-tuk, great for snorkeling.

If you walk east instead, you will find Kudawella beach, which is even quieter.

Dickwella sounds perfect. We will pack a towel and head over the hill.
