Instead of standing on the Nine Arch Bridge, hike up the steep path leading towards the Asanka Cafe. There is a high ridge there that looks down onto the bridge and tracks, offering a stunning panoramic angle of the blue train emerging from the forest.

Another fantastic quiet spot is the Demodara Loop. You can sit on the grassy hills and watch the train literally cross over itself as it spirals through the mountain tunnel.
