Renting a Tuk Tuk to carry Yoga Mats to Beach Clubs in the south
4 Answers from travellers
Rental companies do not care if you drive to a nightclub, BUT they absolutely care if you drive intoxicated. If you are caught drunk driving, or if the tuk-tuk is damaged while parked outside a rave, your comprehensive insurance is immediately voided. You will be paying thousands of dollars out of pocket. If you take it to a club, the designated driver must be strictly sober.
If you rent from a reputable place, they give you a lockable box in the back that is big enough to store rolled up mats safely.
Also, do not leave your expensive yoga mats in the back of the tuk-tuk while you are inside the club. They will get stolen.
If you are staying in the south (Ahangama/Weligama), the clubs are so close together it is usually cheaper and safer to just pay a local driver 500 rupees at night anyway.
