Is there a direct bus to Mirissa or do we have to transfer somewhere along the way.

To travel from Ella to the south coast beaches like Mirissa or Galle by public bus, you first need to take a local bus down the mountain to the town of Wellawaya. This first leg takes about an hour.

From the main Wellawaya bus terminal, you can easily transfer to a direct bus heading towards Matara or Galle along the southern coastal route. Just ask the conductor to drop you off at your specific beach town.
