To travel from Ella to Hiriketiya using public transport, you first need to take a local bus down the mountain to Wellawaya. The ride takes about an hour and is very scenic.
From the Wellawaya bus stand, catch any direct bus heading towards Matara or Galle along the southern coastal route. Simply ask the driver or conductor to drop you off at the Dikwella or Hiriketiya junction.
