While Arugam Bay itself is incredibly busy, a quick tuk tuk ride south takes you to Panama Beach. It is a massive, completely empty stretch of golden sand bordering the jungle. You will likely be the only foreigner there, offering total peace and quiet.

Another brilliant secret spot is Lighthouse Beach in Komari, located slightly north of Arugam Bay. It features a small, historic lighthouse ruin and beautiful, isolated coastal views completely free of the loud surfer party crowds.
