Delft Island is a truly unique, rugged experience and absolutely worth the trip. You must take a bus from Jaffna to the Kurikadduwan Jetty, which takes about an hour. From there, you catch the free government ferry across the ocean. Once on the island, you can hire a local tuk tuk or open air truck to drive you across the coral landscapes to see the ancient baobab trees and the herds of wild horses left behind by the Dutch colonizers.
