Were the massive brick claws carved during King Kashyapas reign or added much later.

The massive brick Lion Paws marking the final ascent to the Sigiriya summit are highly authentic. They were carved directly during King Kashyapas reign in the 5th century.

Historically, an entire colossal brick lion head existed above the paws, and ancient visitors literally walked through the open mouth of the lion to reach the palace on top. While the head collapsed centuries ago, the massive paws remain perfectly preserved.
