We really want to climb Sigiriya but have a 6-year-old and my 68-year-old father. Is it too steep and difficult for them? Any tips?

The climb is quite steep in sections, especially the final metal staircase. It's doable for a fit 6-year-old but very challenging for someone 68 unless they're very active. Consider Pidurangala Rock instead - similar views, much easier climb, and far fewer crowds. Or do the base and museum only at Sigiriya and skip the summit.

Pidurangala sounds like the smart choice for our group. Thank you!

Many families do Sigiriya with kids. Take lots of water, go very early, and take breaks. But honestly, for mixed ages, Pidurangala or even the view from the Sigiriya museum area is a better compromise.
