Still in Kandy at 9.10 with an 11pm CMB flight - is FlightStats very-low enough to try
We thought the 4th Kumbal was "an hour" and we would be on the bypass by 8. We are not. Flight is 23:00 out of CMB. FlightStats still says delay status VERY LOW. Partner wants to throw the bags in a car and go. I think we already missed the airport. Honest answer, not a pep talk.

Geography first. Kandy to CMB is a road, not a delay-board, and at 9.10 you do not have a sane two-hours-before-international window even if Gopallawa is flowing. FlightStats at this 9:20 fetch is VERY LOW (scattered clouds 28°C, 7 kt SW, vis 6 mi) - that means the airport is not a mess, not that your 23:00 will wait. Call the airline from the guesthouse wifi before you spend a night on the Katunayake road. Assume you are rebooking, not heroically making it.
We watched someone try this after Wednesday's Kumbal. They missed it and slept in Negombo anyway. Start the phone call, not the surge-van argument.
airport.lk's public board tonight had mixed arrived / expected lines. Do not invent that "CMB is delayed so we are fine." Check the PNR.
Scam Watch: kandy
TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
