We just arrived at Pettah bus stand and no tuktuk driver will use the meter They want 1500 rupees for a short ride Is this a scam

Yes this is a well known scam zone The drivers parked directly outside the bus stand operate as a mafia and refuse the meter Walk 100 meters down the road and flag a passing tuktuk with a red metered sign or just use PickMe

Never negotiate with them It just encourages the behavior Keep walking until you find an honest driver

I used Uber and the driver had to meet me a block away because the Pettah tuktuk drivers harass the rideshare drivers
