Visit the spectacular Hummanaya blow hole located just a short ten minute drive from Dickwella town. It is the second largest blow hole in the entire world and shoots seawater up to thirty meters into the sky during high tide. Try to time your visit during the southwest monsoon for the most powerful displays.

Make sure to visit the magnificent Wewurukannala Vihara temple which features the largest seated Buddha statue in all of Sri Lanka standing at fifty meters tall. The temple also has a unique tunnel of horrors depicting various Buddhist hells which is fascinating and a bit creepy for older kids.

Do not skip the secret beach of Hiriketiya which is just minutes away. It is a perfect surfing and swimming bay surrounded by lush palm trees with several trendy cafes serving great smoothie bowls and coconut coffee. Sunrise yoga sessions are offered daily on the beach by local studios.
